Yesterday, Warriors Ground SF was out in full force for the annual Mission Bay Block Party. Event attendees enjoyed a fun-filed day in sunny Mission Bay complete with a farmer’s market, DJ, chalk art contest, and of course the Larry O’Brien Championship trophy.
The Mission Bay Block party began nine years ago as a way to bring the UCSF community together for an afternoon of entertainment and delicious food. This year’s event was no exception. Block Party organizers were hard at work grilling up veggie burgers and other healthy snacks for attendees, and many made their way over to our tent to learn about the proposed Sport and Entertainment center in Mission Bay. We were thrilled to meet so many supporters, hand out buttons and stickers, and raffle off Warriors autographed bobbleheads!
The event came just one day after UCSF and the Warriors organization reached an agreement regarding managing traffic in the neighborhood. UCSF Chancellor, Sam Hawgood, stated that the deal “will provide the safeguards UCSF needs to fully endorse the Warriors’ arena project.”
We’re excited for the Warriors to move to Mission Bay and participate in future Block Party events for years to come. San Francisco is Warriors Ground!
