Last October, the Warriors announced a joint venture between Clark Construction Company and M.A. Mortenson as general contractors for the Warriors' new arena project. On April 4th, they came one step closer to putting shovels in the ground by hosting a project tip off meeting for prospective subcontractors. More than 200 plumbers, sheet metal works, and electricians were attended the event and learned about the procurement schedule and Chase Center development.
“The Mortenson and Clark team combines the strengths and resources of the top sports and entertainment builders in the nation with a long and successful history of delivering projects in San Francisco,” said Warriors' President Rick Welts.
From the time that the Warriors announced plans to move to San Francisco, an emphasis has been put on a commitment to small business, union labor, and local hire. The construction phase of the Chase Center includes a goal of 50 percent Small Business Enterprise Participation, as well as a 50 percent local hiring goal.
In order to meet these goals, Mortenson Clark and the Warriors have teamed with The CityBuild Academy, an employment program under the Workforce Development Division of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, which provides workforce training and job placement services to San Francisco residents interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry.
Between Mortenson Clark and CityBuild Academy, the construction of the Chase Center is in good hands and on track for a 2019 opening date!
