Read to Achieve in Mission Bay

On Wednesday August 3, 2016, the Warriors held a Read to Achieve event at the Mission Bay branch of the San Francisco Public Library. 50 youth gathered around the Warriors alumni player and team Community Ambassador Adonal Foyle to read aloud from his children’s book “Too-Tall Foyle Finds His Game” and “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak.

Entering its 18th season, The Warriors Read to Achieve Reading Program is a year-round child literacy program designed to help young people develop a life-long love for reading through read rallies and other exciting literacy activities. This is conducted in partnership with elementary schools, public library systems and local youth agencies.

The youth in attendance were excited to actively participate in reading with Foyle and answer questions about the stories for prizes.  Each child was given a Warriors Read to Achieve t-shirt along with new books provided by Ross Stores. Foyle also led the children through the Warriors Read to Achieve Pledge, motivating them to read every day.
