Ground breaking in every way.

Yesterday, the Warriors held a successful ground breaking ceremony for Chase Center in Mission Bay. Last year was exceptionally memorable for the Warriors and for the Warriors Ground SF community!

Yesterday, the Warriors held a successful ground breaking ceremony for Chase Center in Mission Bay.
Last year was exceptionally memorable for the Warriors and for the Warriors Ground SF community!

Together, we made tremendous strides in our effort to build a new state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood.

The year began with a January announcement that the Warriors would be partnering with Chase, whose naming rights agreement would help make the arena a reality, and who would join us in an ongoing commitment to doing good things in the community.

By July, we crossed a major milestone when the Superior Court upheld our project’s public planning process and Environment Impact Review, rejecting the cynical efforts of a secretive group of business interests to derail the arena plan in court.

And in late November, the California Court of Appeals sealed the deal by once again upholding our plan and our EIR, and dismissing the opposition’s case on all grounds.

We were very busy in the neighborhood as well, collaborating on community revitalization projects in the Dogpatch, literacy programs for youth in Mission Bay, and fantastic holiday festivities in the Bayview.

In addition to hands-on work in the neighborhood, the Warriors Community Foundation awarded $1.25 million in grants to more than 50 Bay Area nonprofit organizations – more than a third of whom are based in The City.

We want to thank you for being a part of this Warriors Ground SF community, and for joining us on this journey to build a new home for the Warriors in San Francisco, where it all began a half-century ago. We’re all part of a process that will keep the team thriving and strong, and home in the Bay Area, for the next 50 years and beyond!

We’ve had the pleasure of working with so many vocal and committed advocates along the way – we so very much appreciate you. We look forward to even more good news in 2017!
