Chinese New Year Parade

Gung Hay Fat Choi! According to multiple reports, upwards of one million people lined the streets of San Francisco on February 11, 2016 for the annual Chinese New Year Parade. This was one of the largest Chinese New Year parades in San Francisco to date, as over 20 floats helped bring in the Year of the Monkey in style.

In addition to special Chinese New year jersey’s worn on court during the month of February, The Warriors were proud to recognize the Chinese community by sponsoring a cable car in this year’s parade. Youth from Francisco Middle School and Chinatown Community Development Center’s Adopt an Alley Way program were excited to ride in the Dubs cable car along with the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. As the parade trekked across downtown and into Chinatown, our cable car riders had a great time passing out Chinese New Year t-shirts to eager parade onlookers. As the parade came to a close at Kearney Street, Chinese Consul General Luo Linquan and Mayor Ed Lee  waited at the finish line to see the Finals trophy up close and personal! Overall, the parade was a huge success—Warriors Ground SF wishes you luck in the Year of the Monkey.
