Warriors Ground SF was out bright and early on Thursday, May 12, to advocate for the fastest growing transportation mode in San Francisco—biking! In an effort to encourage commuters to try bicycling, the Warriors were proud to sponsor one of twenty-six energizer stations located around San Francisco on the 22nd annual Bike To Work day.
Energizer Stations are strategically placed around the city on heavily traveled commute routes to reward bikers with coffee and giveaway prizes. Overall, the Energizer Stations were a huge success, as the Bicycle Coalition was able to sign up over 1,000 new members on Bike to Work Day alone.
We caught up with San Francisco Bicycle Development Director, Brian Wiedenmeier, on the importance of Bike to Work Day. Brian said, “The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition fights for safer streets and more livable communities for all San Franciscans, and we’re proud to team up with the Warriors to help promote the bicycle for everyday transportation. Bike to Work Day is the biggest and best day of the year to show City leaders that biking is a fun and sustainable mode of transportation, and for the last two years, the Warriors have partnered with the SF Bicycle Coalition to help make this day a huge success. The Warriors have been committed to ensuring that the new Chase Center arena will be the most bike-friendly arena in the country, and in San Francisco, we need to build capacity to meet the growing demand for bicycle infrastructure."
